He holds a degree in Performing Arts: Theater Direction from the Federal University of Bahia, (1979) an MA in Theater Design – Lighting – New York University (1993), and a PhD in Performing Arts from the Federal University of Bahia – PPGAC. He is an Associate Professor of the Federal University of Bahia and won the CAPES Thesis Award – 2014. His research interest is in Arts, focusing on Scene Design – Lighting and Scenario, mainly for the following topics: theater-design-lighting, theater direction, theater-scenario. The theme of his last research is the scenic-spectacular praxis and “visualities”.
