Gilsamara Moura is an artist, choreographer, curator and consultant of cultural projects. She holds a PhD and an MA in Communication and Semiotics from PUC-SP, with research on Public Policies in Dance and Dance and Literature. She is a permanent professor of both the Graduate Programs in Dance (PPGDança) and Performing Arts (PPGAC) at UFBA. Some of her academic and artistic activities are the following: Vitae Foundation fellow as a resident choreographer at the American Dance Festival; president of FUNDART – Art and Culture Foundation of Araraquara; creator of the Municipal Dance School “Iracema Nogueira”; member of the Danza Red Sudamericana; resident choreographer at IPL – International Performance Lab (Lima/Peru); co-director of the international cooperation project FRONTEIRAS, coordinated by the Iranian artist Khosro Adibi; founder and coordinator of the project Diálogo Mestiço e Gestus Cidadãos; member of the National Association of Dance Researchers (ANDA); curator of the Boi Estrela de Igatu Festival and the Araraquara International Dance Festival; visiting professor at IMPULSTANZ (Vienna); guest professor at CENIDI Danza José Limón (Mexico DF), at National University of Asunción (Paraguay), at National University of Rosario (Argentina), at PUC Peru, Universidad de las Artes (Guayaquil / Ecuador) and at Laica Eloy Alfaro University (Manta) / Ecuador). She is the leader of the research group Ágora: modos de ser em dança (Agora: Ways of Being in Dance), registered in CNPq.
