Ivani Lucia Oliveira de Santana holds an MA (2000) and a PhD (2003) in Communication and Semiotics from PUC/São Paulo. She also carried out her postdoctoral studies at Sonic Arts Research Center, UK (2012/13). Currently, she is a professor at the Institute of Arts, Humanities and Science and the Graduate Program in Performing Arts (UFBA). She leads the research group Poéticas Tecnológicas: corpoaudiovisual (Technological Poetics: “corpoaudiovisual”). Since the 1990s, her research has focused on the relationship between dance and new technologies. She is the author of the following books: Open Body: Corpo Aberto: Cunningham, Dança e Novas Tecnologias (2002) and Dança Na Cultura Digital (2006) and she has also written several articles published in national and international journals. In 2006, she was awarded with the “UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of Arts – New Technologies” and with an artistic residency at the National Choreographic Centre – Pavillon Noir, in Aix-en-Provence, France at the Monaco Dance Forum.
