Marcelo Sousa Brito has been a Capes PNPD scholarship holder since November 2016 in the Graduate Program in Performing Arts at UFBA. His research project Narrativas Cartográficas do ator-geógrafo (Cartographic Narratives of the actor-geographer) is supervised by professor Eliene Benício. He is also an actor and theater director. He won a Braskem Award in 2006 in the best new director category for the play “Guilda”. This play was the result of his undergraduate project in Theater Direction at the School of Theater at UFBA. With this project, he started his partnership with professor Eliene Benício. Their partnership is retaken for his Doctorate studies in 2015 at PPGAC-UFBA. Professor Benício is currently his postdoctoral advisor. He is part of the research group NETPOP (Center for Studies in Popular Theater). He had his entire academic career linked to the School of Theater and to PPGAC-UFBA. In 2011, he completed his Master’s degree entitled Pedra Afiada: um convite para o teatro invadir a cidade (Sharp Stone: an invitation for the theater to invade the city), supervised by Professor Doctor Ângela Reis. Both thesis and dissertation were published in a book format by EDUFBA, publishing house of the Federal University of Bahia: O teatro invadindo a cidade (2012) and O teatro que corre nas vias (2017).
